TIPS & TRIPS - Verona, the city of love
As some of you might or might not know, we're from Verona. Yes; Romeo and Juliet, romance and fantasy over reality...
No need for us to say, that wether you come from Italy or not, Verona is the best city you can visit. Good food, good people and the most amazing location, full of historic buildings that go back to Roman times.
So if you ever happen to stop by (and I repeat myself you SHOULD!) here are a few places and spaces we recommend!
#1 Locanda Castelvecchio
If your looking for amazing local food this is your spot. From lesso with peara to the traditional tortellini and tagliatelle ai tre sughi, whatever you may fancy. Located near Castelvecchio this locanda has the most sexy interiors, perfect for a date night but also for a classy dinner with friends.
#2 Trattoria al Pompiere
Local wines and rustic pasta and meat dishes, a match made in heaven. The best also for cured meats and cheese selections. They will have you feel at hope thanks to their classic trattoria vibes with checked tablecloth and photographs that tell the history of the spot.
#3 Pizzeria da Salvatore
A pizza that respects the tradizione Napoletana. Trust us it doesn't get any better than this. Most know for it's signature Calvetti (margarita with ricotta, prosciutto cotto and grana cheese), it's addictive so be aware! We recommend getting there early as its on a first come first serve basis.
#4 Buns
Best burgers in town. Nothing beats it, their signature 1984 burger is our personal favourite. Remember not to miss out on their sweet potato fries as they are to die for!
#5 Osteria del Bugiardo
In veneto it's always aperitivo o'clock. At osteria del Bugiardo you can never go wrong. They have their own winery so don't be shy to try all their different local wines. My personal favourite is their ripasso. Also make sure to ask for grissini with crudo and their polpette, you won't regret it.
#6 Antica Bottega Del Vino
One of the most prestigious and oldest spots in town. The bottega vini counts over 19thousand bottles from over 4.500 different labels, so make sure to give a look at their wine book. Must try: risotto all'amatone and their escargots, made the french way of course.
#7 Pescheria ai Masenini
Best fish restaurant in town, according to us of course. Very classy interiors and stunning fish plates. Their cozze impepate are our personal favourites, make sure to dip the bread in the extra tomato sauce.
#8 Branzo
Newly opened but ready to make a statement. Branzo is well known for their fish burgers that are to die for! Also don't miss out on their salmon and prawn polpette, a must!
#9 Filia
If you're looking for some haute cuisine that keeps evolving and adapting to seasonal products, Filia is your spot. We recommend following the entire set menu rather than picking your own plates, gives you a more complex and complete idea of what the season has to offer.
